About
From Howell, NJ to the Big Apple.
I was 9 years old when I discovered that I had any kind of artistic bone in my body. My mother loves to tell the story about the day she heard me sing for the first time. Her telling of it goes:
I was downstairs watching television when I heard singing upstairs. I thought the television upstairs turned on by itself, but no! My Emily was in the shower… singing! You can’t imagine the shock on my face. I thought “Where did that come from?”
From that point on, I grew up performing the National Anthem at baseball games and events, in shows at community theatres, in singing competitions across New Jersey (Winner of the Rock & Roll Music Idol and Runner up at the NJ 101.5 singing contest), and more.
I auditioned and got into the Fine and Performing Arts Academy High School. It was from there that I was introduced to improvisation, Meisner, Stella Adler, Stanislavski, jazz, tap, ballet, music theory, and opera. I credit this school for cultivating and ultimately inspiring my love for the arts. Through the school I got the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall (Twice!), The White House for Barack and Michelle Obama, NJPAC, and Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
I was accepted into Marymount Manhattan College as a Musical Theatre Major and attended the school for two years. I then transferred to an in-state school, Centenary University. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Major in Musical Theatre and a Minor in Dance.
My time at Marymount was spent traveling all over the city. From the Upper West Side to take singing lessons with Vivian Reed & Dance Lessons with Ed Kresley and Lori Leshner five days a week, to The Upper East Side to take script analysis, music theory, and unforgettable acting classes with Timothy Johnson and Paul Takacs. I performed in two Main Stage Productions at Marymount Manhattan (Parade, The Who’s Tommy), as well as singing on a Broadway Stage for the first time, and getting the opportunity to sing backup for Vivian Reed at the Green Room 42.
Centenary University brought me a plethora of experiences almost immediately upon entering. In my two years there, I was in Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical as Penelope Square, The Merry Wives of Windsor as Mistress Ford, Miss Nelson is Missing as Cheryl, A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Oberon, Sweat as Tracey, as well as multiple singing and dance concerts. I have had the opportunity to star in my first Regional Production as Belle in Beauty and the Beast, followed by playing Belle (again) & Mrs. Cratchit in Stephen Temperley’s A Christmas Carol, and Patsy Cline in Centenary Stage Company’s Production of Always…Patsy Cline.
